Done with Summer School... Exponential Equations Anyone?

I think a lot of people have something in common, they cringe at the thought of MATH, young and old! In one of the units in my Algebra 1 class, I let my students predict when a video stops being viral using Exponential Functions-Growth or Decay equations. To make MATH more interesting and realistic to my young scholars I include touches of real world connections using current events, commercials, movies, music, books, infographics etc.. as hooks in warm-ups, practice problems, quizzes, and transitions. My students connects right away and the initial hesitation becomes curiosity and then learning starts.

I am amazed at the story behind Olivia Rodrigo's viral hit "Driver's License" that is why I used it as an example in class. She wrote about her being jilted, oohhh... the passion of young love, that is probably why the world had a connection and embraced her song just like that. The song is real, raw with feelings, it is as if she is baring her soul but she doesn't care if the whole world would see. I told my students to discover their interest, their passions so they can focus their energies and talents to build something worthwhile in the future.

Now BTS, they are a phenomena! World... there's no stopping this group. My class likes their songs. I think some of them are "armies" too!

I am sharing BTS' "Butter" here even if they have a newly released single "Permission to Dance" because this song also is another league in terms of popularity worldwide and the location of their MTV reminded me of the soon to be opened Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway. Well, I guess I just sooo miss home and my fambam... honestly, that's prolly why!😅
